Travel Memories: How to keep them safe
If there are two things I got from my Grandad they are a love of travel, and a fondness for hoarding holiday memories. He passed his tradition of travel scrapbooking down to my Mum and she has passed it on to me, I love collecting anything I can to remind me of trips, from postcards and tickets to napkins and salt packets.
My Grandad and Mum used to stick all of these things into a scrapbook along with photos, I have kept his Canadian scrapbook from his trip in 1979 as I just had to keep hold of something he’d put some much time into and clearly treasured.
Travel Scrapbooking was a tradition I followed for a bit until life got too busy and photos became digital and accessible from anywhere, I have bags full of momentos from our Honeymoon and pre kids USA Road Trip, as well as memories from our trips as a family, all in a box under the bed, I was thinking of ways I could store these a little easier and also to collect things on future trips and came up with our new Travel Memory Pouches.
You can personalise these for each trip and each family member if you wanted to, store Passports and travel documents in them on the way out, and use them to store all the bits you collect along the way, keeping them safe and together for years to come, our large pouches are also big enough to include an A5 notebook so you or your little ones can keep a travel journal too, when you return all of your memories will already be together, safe and more compact than a scrapbook.
Passing this hoarding tradition down and including a little notebook is something I plan on doing for my eldest on our trip later this year, I find he’s often more willing to write if he has some prompts so I’m planning on printing some of these Travel Journal prompts I have found on Pinterest:
You’ll love looking back together over these in years to come, and our Travel Memories Pouches make a great place to store them alongside any treasures they find.
